I received in the Saturday mail, Peachtree Office Accounting,
Service Pack 1. There don’t seem to be any version upgrade
readme’s or explanations on the CDROM…. I wonder what’s the
deal.
Has POA CAB files dated Nov. 11, 1998, but everything else
seems older. Docs are 4/9/98, tutorial 4/14/98, banking 3/2/98,
ahhhhh here we go: Microsoft DAO versions 4/28/98 in new
directories dated 11/12/98, Microsoft mdac15_typ.exe is
dated 10/27/98.. hmmmmmmm.
Here is a definition of MDAC

Maybe this is the version upgrade that makes it
compatible with users who own Visual Basic 6.0.
I seem to recall that when MS released Visual Studio 6,
it broke Peachtree Office Accounting. Ironic, that the
companies like Peachtree Softare who make the most effort
to embrace Microsoft technologies, are rewarded by having
their applications crash whenever the kids in Redmond
issue a new version of the technology.
==============================
Question: does the POA SP1 add anything except the bugfix
making it compatible with Bill Gates’ lastest Visual Studio?
Does it add any of the most-needed improvements (ability
to customize teh invoices, etc) mentioned on this forum?
Does it take away the amazing programmability that is
included in POA, out of the box? You may recall that
Peachtree Office Acounting exposes thousands of properties,
methods and events, making them available to quite a
detailed level of programming by MS Access, Visual Basic,
Excel, etc. ** without any developers kit! ** This is
such a windfall, compared to lets say Solomon, which costs
over $15,000 before you even get close to this particular
functionality .
Here is a printscreen just to make it more graphic for you.

Is this significant or what? Be sure to read the whitepaper.
