Has anyone out there got any experience in using a
barcoding system for controlling the Inventory section of

Closing Partnership Income

I used Peachtree First Accounting Version 2 Batch 5 for a partnership
in 1999.  When I closed the books for 1999 each partners drawing
account and net income were closed out to “Current Earnings”.  In the
January 2000 period I did a Journal Entry to close the Current Earnings
account into the partners’ capital accounts based on their percentage
share of profits less their individual drawing accounts.  This “fix”
seemed fine until I ran the Cash Flow statement.  Now this increase in
the Capital accounts is shown as a capital contribution resulting in
the Cash Flow statement being out of balance by that amount.

The only way I have found to correct this problem is to reverse my
journal entry and make a prior period adjustment to December, 1999.
This appears to have worked, but there must be a better way than just
blindly plugging the affected accounts.  Anyone have another idea?

E-mail employee pay stubs

We have a client who is running Peachtree V7 who would like to e-mail pay
stubs to employees who have elected direct deposit of their paychecks.  Is
there an efficient way to do this in the Peachtree program?  Thanks.

Time Tickets – Goofy Stuff?

Is it my imagination or do I see goofy things going on in the time
tickets area of PAW7.0?  I need to document it to post specifics, but I
keep thinking maybe I’m imagining it.

Sometimes I’ll go into the weekly screen and there’s nothing there for
the prior week (our pay period ends on Wednesday), although I know I
paid the employee the week before.

One guy I just opened up, I see 4 entries for CLERICAL – he’s Never put
in clerical classification, so I know those are anomalies.

The other day I was trying to enter DAILY tickets so I could put
descriptions to go on the invoice – I entered 4:50 under timed duration
(manual) and it kept trying to show 4:83 in the unit duration in the
billing section.  I finally went and entered the time in the Weekly
screen and then pulled up the daily ticket it generated and put in the
description I wanted.  (sigh)

Wish you guys could tell me if it would be worth upgrading to the new
version – if it would fix this – but you know as much as I.  (sigh)

Thanks for listening to me rant.

Btrieve Error – Compression Buffer

I just installed PCA 7.0 under Win2000 but when I try to run it I
received:

Btrieve Error:
Compression Buffer Size Parameter of 56000 is < 64512.  Please correct
and restart.

I’ve looked but can find where to increase this parameter.  I’ve tried
installing the 7.0.03 update but it didn’t help.

Any Ideas?

Jeff

Peachtree CA 8.0 Worth it?

I am sitting here looking at the brochure for Peachtree Complete Accounting
8.0 and I am wondering if it is truely worth it.  I really don’t see that
much new.  Looks to me like it should be called Peachtree CA 7.5!

Anyway here is my main question.   Are we really going to be forced to by a
networked version of 8.0 to have multiple users on a peer to peer network?
Why the change from the current policy.

What is the general consensus on this upgrade?

Thanks,

Jere

Please Help Problem with PCA 6.0 !

For the last two days we have been having problems with Peachtree
Complete Accounting 6.0 being really slow.  I have been trying to pull
Aged Payable reports from prior periods and comparing that with the GL
Balances for the same periods.   As I said I has been really slow
generating these reports, but after about 30 min. or so I will get
the ‘Lock table full’ error.  We have 5 computers in a peer to peer
network including the ‘server’.  I have rebooted all the computers and
I have deleted the .lck files in the company directory but I am still
having problems.  Does anyone know how I can fix this?

TIA

Invoice Line Item detail w/Time & Billing

We are just starting to try and use the time & billing features –
applying tickets to invoices.

I have noticed that once the tickets have been applied and you go back
into the invoice at a later date, it is a nightmare trying to figure
out the source of the line items.

Any suggestions would be helpful.  I can’t figure out how to get that
kind of detail through the sales journal.

Thanks,

Carla
