Item Costs

I thought I posted this before, so sorry if I am being redundant.
Say you buy an item from a vendor and he has a price increase.  Is there a way
to change an item’s cost?  If there is, I can’t find it.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Great New Software For Webmasters

No.  If your use of profanity is any measure of the intellectual prowess
of the thinkersgroup, then I decline.

Vendor files

We currently cannot access the vendor files while trying to create a
purchase order.

The user wants to copy to local machine however the docs say that it needs
to export the files. Will this remove it from our server?

We are using version 11 for Dos. Hardware is an NT server running 4.0 and a
win98 workstations.

thanks in advance.

V8 New 2001 Tax

HI:
I am trying to use the new 2001 tax service which I just
installed.  This is the first time we are using the payroll section of
peachtree V8. Every time I try to enter payroll for any employee I get
the following error messages: Cannot find MOSSA ER 01 & MOLIT 01.
I went to the website and checked the FAQ’s section and found 1 topic
on this error. I tried everything that it said and still have the same
problem.. Anyone else in MO having this problem? Any ideas on how to
correct it… I checked to make sure the tax tables were installed and
are the newest ones… They were… Thanks   JR

Peachtree or Quickbooks or?

I am starting a business which will involve supplying some 200-300 different
items from about 30 vendors to about 15 customers.  I will be ordering from
the 30 vendors and invoicing weekly to the 15 customers who will in turn
resell the products at retail.

My main concerns in selecting an accounting system are as follows related to
inventory management:

1) Which system makes the writing of purchase orders easiest?
2) Which provides the most powerful sales reports?
3) Which makes it easiest to keep track of inventory including additions as
merchandise is received and reuctions as items are invoiced out?

I’d appreciate any advice you have to offer.

i/o errors

I have a client running PT Version 7 a Win98 network with 1 WinME thrown in.
4 users and a Webramp (which is the last major change before problems).
Package works for 3 days and then users all get i/o error.  Peachtree says
that Win98se is the only thing that will network properly, but that sounds
like BS to me.

I suspected bad hard drive, but after disk defragment and moving data to
another PC, problems still exist.  Any possibility that addition of Webramps
and TCP/IP protocols could be the culprit.  I got called in after everything
went sour, so am not sure what was running before.  Maybe only NetBEUI.

    Thanks for any help.

Can You Help…Please?

I am trying to purge 1999 from ver. 8.0 in order to speed up the process of
retrieving and posting data.  I go through the entire wizard and the purge
process starts.  It goes completely through Journal Entries once, then
begins again but when it gets to 66% it hangs up completely.  I talked to
Peachtree and they assured me that this is what is was supposed to do and it
would take a while for the purge to work.  8 hours later the computer is
still at 66% and the status shows not responding.  Is there something I can
do to help the purge or is there another option that I have?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Max Communication Buffer Size

I have been using PCW8.0 at the office and at home for quite sometime.   A few
days ago I reformatted my harddrive at home and reinstalled PCW8.0.  When I
tried to open it said:  "Max Communication Buffer size parameter of 16384 is
<64512.  Please correct and restart."   I appreciate if someone can help me to
correct the buffer size.  Thanks.

Crystal Reports- the fun begins…

Ok- I received my copy of Crystal Reports and installed it without incident.

Now, when I go to run a sample report from the new Crystal Reports menu, I
just get a Peachtree error dialogue boxe stating "create process error".
It’s pretty anti-climatic.

Ptree version 8.0.02.044
Workstation- Win NT 4.0, sp6a
Server 1 (Domain controller) – BackOffice Small Business Server, current
service packs
Server 2 (File server) – Snap server
Logged in as user w/ adminstrator previledges to workstation- full
priveledges to file server data

Any clues?  Thanks in advance.

No True Security in Peachtree

If you ever misplace your password to Peachtree, you can call tech
support and they will tell you it costs 75 dollars and you have to
send your data to Peachtree.
However, here is all they will do. They will rename your permiss.dat
file, go back in and all passwords are gone. Then they will create the
main user and password you write on the "Password Retrieval Form" you
fill out to send in with your data.
If you want to try this, use one of the sample companies to run this
test.
This shows how easy it is to break the "security" of Peachtree. With
this knowledge, an 8 year old could crack into Peachtree when you set
up passwords.
