im in period 24     fiscal year ending 09302001      i need to start putting
entries in period 25   oct 2001….my question is if i close the fiscal year
now  wouldnt that be for period 1 thru 12 which is 10 1999 to 09 30 00??
that should mean that i can proceed into oct 2001 which would now be known
as period 13?? and then i dont to close this fiscal year for at least
several months,,,,thanks in advance

I’m using PT v 7.  I have set up some statistical accounts in my chart of
accounts to summarize monthly unit activity and want to be able to calculate
sales dollars per unit.  I will enter the activity each month by journal
entry.

It seems there is a problem with each method I choose.  I want to result to
be in dollars and cents, so I can’t divide col 1 by col 2 (PT makes it
round).  I tried using percentages and department masks but the result is 0.
If I use ratios, the result is too high by a factor of 100.

Any suggestions?

I’m running a Win2k network, with Windows 2000 Server (SP2)on my
server which hosts the peachtree data files, and is my domain
controller, and Windows 2000 Professional (SP2)on my workstations. I
am trying to create a secure (locked down)desktop with limited user
access to desktop controls, and make deploying Peachtree easier.

I have 2 questions:
   (1) Is it possible (or has anyone tried??) to avoid adding each
user as an
       administrator or poweruser to each workstations local-users
group. I am
       thinking that this has something to do with file security and
access
       rights, as well as registry security and access settings.

   (2) Has anyone successfuly created a Windows Installer file for
deploying
       Peachtree?

I am a single user bookkeeper for a small company.
I have used Peachtree for dos for many years.  I
currently run v10 on a Win98se machine networked
to a Novell server where the data is stored.  For tax
update reasons, I think I need to upgrade.
I use modules general ledger, accounts payable, and
payroll.  I have no plans to use any other modules.
Any advice on the upgrade path, v-12 or 2002,
would be helpfull.

I’m using PC8.0.  When I went to close the month, it said it could not
because of unposted transactions!  How do I find them?  I am in real-time
mode, but I do import a file each day which creates some entries.

Any ideas?

I am a builder and am trying to setup a new company in Peachtree
Complete v8.0. My company builds spec homes and I am unclear whether
each home I build is considered an inventory item, timing and how the
Cost of Goods Sold accounts figure into it differently than an Expense
account, etc.

Can anyone take me through a brief scenario describing these?

I purchased a book entitled "Contractor’s Guide to Peachtree Complete
Accounting". What I received was a spiral bound publication of
approximately 60 pages. It was basically useless. For example,
Appendix A contains the Chart of Accounts that appears in the sample
company, along with alterations required based upon the type of
business (Corp, LLC, Sole Proprietor, etc). No explanation of accounts
was provided, it was merely the same basic report you would receive
when doing a Chart of Accounts report in Peachtree on the sample
company. Without some explanation, it is unclear to me how "2010
Accounts Payable" differs from "2020 Accounts Payable – Trade".
Perhaps this is unfair because of some expectation of the target
audience, but I don’t think so since it was targeted at General
Contractor’s and not Accountants.

The accompanying diskette with a sample construction company was about
the same. I don’t find the sample construction company that comes with
Peachtree Complete Accounting any better since it doesn’t explain the
distinction between similarly named accounts either.

I expected a sample chronology along with supporting transactions and
data in the sample company.
