Has anyone successfully used Peachtree Accounting to print Adobe Acrobat v5.0 PDF files?
I’ve tried before, but I always ended up with Peachtree errors and crashes.
Adobe Acrobat v4.0 works okay, but Adobe Acrobat v5.0 doesn’t.
If you have, what’s the trick?

Ted,
You got to print your PDF output file to the company’s data folder. That
basically will solve the issue.
Also, I got this advice from David Ringstrom (in the forums) and IMHO it’s
very good:
"A much, much better solution to creating PDF files from Peachtree is to use
602PrintPack from
http://www.software602.com/products/printpack/
The program is only $19.95, which is less than 1/10th the cost of Adobe
Acrobat. Plus, it offers a great Print2Mail option, which will directly
attach your PDF file to an e-mail. This involves an extra step with Acrobat.
Plus, you won’t encounter the data path issues that Acrobat sometimes
causes."
Hope this helps a bit,

Going by memory here but . . . you have to save your PDF in your
Peachtree company directory. When Acrobat saves and you select a
directory different than the company directory Peachtree gets lost.
After printing PT tries to look at the company and gets the Acrobat
directory just changed to and errors occur. Save to your company
directory and move your PDF’s out latter if needed. See if this works.

Hi Javier
Thanks … I’ll take a look at the 602PrintPack app.
Meantime, I’ve had both FinePrint and FinePrint 2000 and FinePrint pdfFactory installed for sometime
now, but have never used them for Peachtree printing. I just had the occasion this morning, and
pdfFactory works the same way as you described 602PrintPack, attaching a PDF file to an email.
Meanwhile, I’ve also found an update for Acrobat 5, and now I’m wondering if that will fix the
problem I’ve had with Acrobat 5, that I don’t have with Acrobat 4.
In any event, I can re-install Acrobat 5, but use FinePrint pdfFactory to print PDF files from
Peachtree.
thanks for the heads up, and twigging me to use FinePrint again.

Hi John,
Yes ….. Peachtree gets lost and crashes, when trying to use Acrobat 5.
Meanwhile, as mentioned in my other post, I’ve also found an update for Acrobat 5, and now I’m
wondering if that will fix the problem I’ve had with Acrobat 5, that I don’t have with Acrobat 4.
Perhaps better still, using FinePrint pdfFactory will be the better solution as compared to trying
to overcome Adobe Acrobat’s problems. (I’m also going to take a look at 602PrintPack too.)
thks

Let us know if the update fixes the problem. You didn’t mention if
simply saving to the company directory worked or not.
Overall, I like Javier’s solution the best. Now to determine whether
pdfFactory or 602PrintPack is better. Where do you get pdfFactory?
Anybody have any experience with these? Want to suggest yet another pdf
tool?

John,
Acrobat’s v5.05 update did not fix the problem, so I think it’s a lost cause with Acrobat v5,
whereas Acrobat v4 works okay. I didn’t save the files to the default directories, as it’s a
cumbersome procedure then to move the files out from underneath programme files, although I guess I
could have written a batch file to perform the move function.
FinePrint Software is from http://www.fineprint.com, Sales and pre-sales information by emailing
sa…@fineprint.com
FinePrint 2000 and FinePrint pdfFactory are great print utilities and I would highly recommend
reviewing them, and also I would be interested in comments comparing them to the 602PrintPack print
utility.
